On a rock, next to the foaming waters of Lake Awassa, a Common sandpiper sat and wagged its tail. Was it possibly a visit from Northern Europe? In Sweden, the Common sandpiper is not uncommon, but the numbers have declined rapidly in recent years; however, sometime around 2015, the negative trend seems to have been broken.
På en klippa intill det skummande vattnet i Lake Awassa satt en drillsnäppa och vippade på stjärten. Var den möjligen på besök från Sverige? Här hemma är ju drillsnäppan inte ovanlig, men den har minskat kraftigt i antal på senare år; dock tycks den negativa trenden ha brutits någon gång runt 2015.
