This is a female of the Fine-spotted woodpecker. It can be seen that she has white-streaked black on the front part of the head and is red on the back part. The male has a completely red crown. The female also has a white-streaked, black mustache stripe while the male has a red one. It is of course the small spots on the head and chest that gave the species its name.

Detta är en hona av småprickig hackspett. Det syns på att hon har vitstreckat svart på främre delen av hjässan och är röd på bakre delen. Hannen har nämlgen en helt röd hjässa. Honan har också ett vitprickigt, svart mustaschstreck medan hannen har ett rött. Det är förstås de små prickarna på huvud och bröst som gett arten dess namn.
