This bird is quite similar to other fulvettas, but has a more distinct white eye ring and a darker crest. It lives in highland areas and often occurs in flocks. The species is now placed in the recently recognized family Alcippeidae.
Denna fågel är ganska lik andra alkippor, men har en mera tydlig vit ögonring och en mörkare hjässa. Den lever i höglänta områden och förekommer ofta i flock. Arten placeras numera i den nyligen erkända familjen alkippor.
