I photographed this bee-eater about fifty years ago in Sri Lanka. Since then I have not encountered it, despite visits to the region. But now I got my fill. This individual sat quietly while I tested different photo angles. This species was formerly called " Little green bee-eater" and comprised three distinct subspecies. Nowadays, these three are considered good species and the population on the Indian subcontinent is now called "Asian green bee-eaters".
