This Red-vented bulbul has just speared a berry with its sharp beak. Some characteristics of the species can be seen in the picture: the black cap that can be raised into a comb; the black beak; the brown cheek patch, and (in some subspecies) the dark scaly breast. What is not visible in the picture is the red lower rump, the white upper rump and the long tail. The species feeds on fruit, flower petals, nectar, insects and small animals, even geckos.
