One might wonder why this bird is called Plumbeous water redstart. But this is a female that is rather bluish slate gray with a white upper rump. It is the male that has given the name to the species with its slate blue upper side and rust red tail and underparts. This bird is photographed right next to a river, which justifies the second part in the name Plumbeous water redstart.
Man kan ju undra varför denna fågel heter Forsrödstjärt. Men detta är en hona som snarare är blåaktigt skiffergrå med vit övergump. Det är hannen som har gett namnet åt arten med sin skifferblåa ovansida och roströd stjärt och undergump. Fågeln är fotograferad alldeles intill en flod vilket motiverar första delen i namnet forströdstjärt.
