Unlike the Desert finch (Rhodospiza obsoleta), which thrives in bushes and trees, the close relative the Trumpeter finch likes to be on the ground. The nest is also placed on the ground, for example in a crevice. This male rested for a while in front of us before continuing his search for food together with the female. The habitat extends over North Africa and the Middle East. The male has a bright red bill while the female's bill is more discreet.
