The Arabian green bee-eater is one of the exceptions in the bird world as it is increasing in numbers, among other things due to increased cultivation in the Levant and with an increased presence of irrigation and insects as a result. The Arabian green bee-eater is the most common bee-eater in Israel - and the only species we saw on our trip. This individual first flew away from his hunting position as we approached, but when we stood in the shade and stood still for a while, it came back and we could take a series of pictures at a reasonable distance without it seeming disturbed.
Den arabiska biätaren tillhör undantagen i fågelvärlden. Den ökar nämligen i antal, bland annat beroende på utökade odlingar i Levanten och med ökad förekomst av bevattning och insekter som följd. Den arabiska biätaren är den vanligaste biätaren i Israel - och den enda vi såg på vår resa. Den här individen flög först iväg från sin jaktposition när vi närmade oss, men när vi ställt oss i skuggan och stått stilla ett tag kom den tillbaka och vi kunde ta en serie bilder på rimligt håll utan att den verkade störd.
