In the port area of San Diego, a little drama unfolded. A young boy, maybe 14 years old, was fishing and caught a small fish, maybe 15 cm long. While holding it in his hand to release it from the hook, this osprey attacked the boy. He was of course shocked but did not drop the fish - which the osprey probably had expected ... But this raptor did not give up. A new attack. It failed again. Then both gave up. The boy went home and the osprey settled on this mast. But before the boy left, he saw this picture of the osprey in my camera - and asked to be able to photograph it with his mobile phone. A souvenir? Maybe a little revenge? Because the boy was really shook up. An osprey, especially of the subspecies 'carolinensis', is large! The wingspan can exceed 180 cm (71 inches)!
