The Wryneck is a deviant relative of the woodpeckers. The beak is reminiscent of that of a Lesser spotted woodpecker, but otherwise it differs markedly. On the back it has a dark back band while the throat and breast are yellowish and watered. Instead of chopping out insects off trees, it often looks for food on the ground; it likes ants, for example.
Göktytan är en avvikande släkting till hackspettarna. Näbben påminner om en mindre hackspetts men annars skiljer den sig markant. På ryggen har den mörkt ryggband medan strupe och bröst är gulaktiga och vattrade. I stället för att hacka ut insekter så letar den ofta föda på marken; den gillar till exempel myror.
