This is Namibia's only truly endemic bird species. It is a small lark with extremely limited distribution - it is only found in the western Namib Desert on sand dunes that show some vegetation. It has never been observed when drinking. Apparently, it receives all the liquid it needs through the small insects that it subsists on. While we followed this individual (and its partner), it dug up and consumed three different kinds of insects from the sand.
