Just like in many other bird species, food exchange is part of the mating ritual among the Arctic terns. The male catches a fish of a good size and then delivers it to the female - in the air! I was luky to capture the ritual in a series of photographs. This one is taken when the female reaches out for the fish.

Liksom hos flera andra fågelarter ingår födoöverlämnande i silvertärnans parningsspel. Hannen fångar en lagom stor fisk som han överlämnar till honan - i luften! Jag hade tur att få en serie bilder på avstånd av denna ritual, i hamnen på Ekkerøy. Detta är bilden när honan sträcker sig upp för att ta emot fisken.
