The adult Blue rock-thrush is, as the first part of the name indicates, completely blue. However, this is only true for the adult male. Females and juveniles are brownish. The rock-trushes that live in Spain have the same color on the breast as the rest of the body, while the Asiatic subspecies 'philippensis' has a reddish chest. The Blue rock-trush is, in spite of its name, not a thrush, but a flycatcher. (It is also the national bird of Malta).
