At a distance, this bird might possibly be confused with a common White wagtail, as it is black and white and tilts its tail in the same way. Upon closer examination, however, the plumage is quite different, with a clear white bib and a white stripe on the head.
På avstånd kan den här fågeln möjligen förväxlas med en vanlig sädesärla, eftersom den är svartvit och vippar på stjärten. Vid närmare påseende är den emellertid helt annorlunda tecknad, med en tydlig vit haklapp och ett vitt streck på huvudet.
