This is perhaps the most spectacular hornbill in the world! We spotted a pair in a tree along the Kinabatangan River. The sexes are almost exactly the same. The only difference is the color of the iris, the male has a black iris, the female has a white one. So this is the female. (The only competitor for being the most spectacular hornbill would probably be its close relative in the Philippines: the Rufous hornbill (Buceros hydrocorax).)
Kanske är detta den mest spektakulära näshornsfågeln! Vi upptäckte ett par i ett träd längs Kinabatanganfloden. Könen är nästan exakt lika. Det enda som skiljer är färgen på irisen, hanen har svart iris, honan har vit. Detta är alltså honan. (Enda konkurrenten till att vara den mest spektakulära näshornsfågeln torde vara den nära släktingen i Filippinerna: rostnäshornsfågel (Buceros hydrocorax).)
