This is a Double-toothed barbet - with a large ivory-white bill that has two notches in the upper mandible that can be interpreted as "teeth" (hence the name). The plumage is black with a red underside and a narrow red band across the wing. A small white spot on the side proves to be important in the male's courtship display during the mating game when he rocks back and forth, plays with his tail and flaps his wings. The species feeds mainly on fruit and insects. Its distribution includes parts of West and Central Africa.
