For me this was a difficult bird to classify. It has so many different color variations depending on the subspecies. But in the end I became comvinced that this was a White-browed shrike-babbler, mainly because of the color combination - and the shape of the bill. This subspecies has pink sidebars and a pink bar on the wing, however, rather than the brown or orange of other subspecies. The species occurs in mountain forest up to 3100 meters.
