We saw Grey francolin several times during the trip, but always at quite a distance. Once we came close though. We stopped the jeep next to the side of the road, some distance from a couple that were picking gravel on the road. Apparently they had an established path that led past where we were standing, because suddenly they appeared right next to us and I was able to photograph up close from the jeep. In close-up, this bird is not only gray but exquisitely watered and colored in various shades of yellowish brown and grey.
