A pair of Long-tailed minivets were moving about in the brush by the side of the road where we stopped. The light was difficult and the birds moved mostly inside the bushes. But in the end I got some pictures of the male (pictured) as well as the female. The male is difficult to distinguish from the Scarlet minivet (Pericrocotus speciosus) - but there is a crucial difference that can also be seen in the picture. This elegant bird has a white fluffy part on the underside (which the Scarlet minivet lacks). The female looks completely different with yellow and green as tonal colors. Like its relatives, this minivet feeds on a wide variety of insects and spiders.
