An Oriental magpie-robin has found a caterpillar in a makeshift dump in Ranthambore. It is a male, closely related to, and quite similar to, the male Indian robin (Copsychus fulicatus), glossy blue-black with the characteristic white wing band (but without the rust-red crissum). The long tail is, as usual, erected. The Oriental magpie-robin breeds in open forest landscapes, in cultivated areas, and in villages and towns. The nest is preferably built in a cavity, e.g. in a wall.
