This is a male Cuckoo roller, a large bird (50 cm), only distantly related to the cuckoos. Apart from the large head and bill, there is not much that resembles the appearance of the female. In contrast to her spotted breast, the male has a light blue ditto, shiny dark blue wings and a dark band near the eye. As the pair are often seen together, the Cuckoo roller has become a symbol of love and fidelity in Madagascar.

Det här är en kurolhane, en stor fågel (50 cm) avlägset släkt med gökfåglarna. Förutom det stora huvudet och näbben är det inte mycket som liknar honans utseende. Till skillnad från hennes prickiga bröst har hannen ett ljusblått dito, glänsande mörkblåa vingar och ett mörkt band invid ögat. Eftersom paret ofta ses tillsammans har kurolen blivit en symbol för kärlek och trofasthet på Madagaskar.
