This Dimorphic egret was perched on a bush on the island of Nosy Ve - resting with a lookout (?). Like the Snowy egret (Egretta thula), it has bright yellow feet - complemented by an equally yellow field between the base of the bill and the eye. It occurs, apart from Madagascar, also in the Seychelles and in East Africa. The International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) does not recognize it as a proper species, but considers it as a subspecies of the Little egret (E. garzetta) or the Western reef heron (E. gularis); therefore, no status is given for the species either.
