This Streak-headed woodcreeper has just found a small insect. This species is quite widespread, from Mexico to northern South America, plus a small strip along the Pacific coast, down to just Northern Peru. Thus, this individual is in the most southernmost part of the distribution area. This bird is well adapted for its food searching habits with long claws, a long, slightly curved, narrow bill that reaches into slits, lichens and mosses and a powerful tail that provides support. It often searches upside down, as in the picture, and then finds insects and arthropods that other birds miss.
