The Bearded woodpecker often forages in pairs - even if the movements rarely are as synchronized as they appear in this picture. The species is well distributed in Africa and is one of the largest woodpeckers of the continent (measuring up to 10 in). (The female, with a black crown to the left, the male, with a red crown, to the right.)
Namaquaspetten söker ofta föda i par även om rörelserna inte är lika synkroniserade som de verkar på denna bild... Arten är vitt spridd i Afrika och en av kontinentens största hackspettar (25 cm). (På bilden syns honan, med svart hjässa, till vänster, och hannen, med klarröd hjässa, till höger).
