This juvenile Pale chanting-goshawk has killed a bird, probably an unexperienced chick, and enjoyed it in tranquility while we passed by in our car. This species is found only in southern Africa, and there only in dry areas. Like among many other birds of prey, the Pale chanting-goshawk changes its plumage with age. In a year or so, this brownish bird will become blue and the color of the beak stark red. Even the color of the eye changes. It is hard to understand that two birds that different, a juvenile and an adult, belong to the same species...
