At a distance, a Gray-headed sparrow might be confused with a House sparrow. It happened to me in the beginning. But the difference is clear, both the breast as well as the head are completely gray. In this case, I first discovered the male who was sitting on top of the dry branch. Only later did I discover the female inside the hollow branch. Apparently, she was brooding on the eggs there while the male guarded.

På avstånd kan bysparven förväxlas med en gråsparv. Det hände mig i början. Men skillnaden är tydlig, såväl bröst som huvud är helt gråa. I det här fallet upptäckte jag först hannen som satt ovanpå den torra grenen. Först senare upptäckte jag honan inne i den ihåliga grenen. Tydligen låg hon på ägg där medan hannen vaktade.
