This is a Mountain oriole, a close relative of our own Eurasian golden oriole (Oriolus oriolus). The two species resemble each other in many ways: the same yellow ground color, the same pink bill and black wings with white elements. But the big difference is of course the color of the head and chin. Where the Golden oriole only has a small black eyebrow stripe, the Mountain oriole has black on both the head and neck. The species is, as the name suggests, limited to mountainous areas, to the Albertine Rift mountain forests, a rainforest area in Congo, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda and a mountainous area in Kenya. It is found at high altitudes, often between 600 and 2,500 meters above sea level.
