This is a male Red-cheeked parrot (the female has a brownish head). It is a medium-sized parrot (20.3 cm, 8.0 in) that is quite shy and usually appears alone or in pairs. They scratch out their nest holes in decaying trees. The diet consists of fruit, seeds and other vegetables.
