A pair of Fire-bellied woodpeckers were looking for food in a dry tree and did not seem to be disturbed by our presence. Like several other species of Chloropicus, they often forage in pairs (or in groups). The picture shows the female on the right and the male, who has a red crown (barely distinguishable), on the left. The species is most often seen on standing dead trees but sometimes also lands on lying tree trunks.
Ett par av eldbuksspett letade föda i ett torrt träd och tycktes inte störas av vår närvaro. Som flera andra arter av Chloropicus så födosöker de ofta i par (eller i grupp). På bilden ses honan till höger och hannen, som har en röd hjässa, till vänster. Arten ses oftast just på stående döda träd men landar någon gång också på liggande trädstammar.
