I have encountered this Northern red-billed hornbill mostly in dry areas, such as in the Tarangire Park in Tanzania. It is apparent, however, that it also thrives in more rainforest-like biotopes, such as here in Ghana. According to the conventional distribution map, the bird should not be found here. According to this map, the species is distributed in a band across Africa, from Mauritania to Somalia, with a branch down to Tanzania. But - this picture shows that it is also found in southern Ghana!
