The most common, and almost the only passerine that we saw on Spitsbergen was the Snow bunting. It was foraging for food in almost all the places where there was something green. It subsists on a mixture of seeds and insects and during the short summer, when the nestlings have to be raised, it is foraging almost every hour of the day.

Den vanligaste, och nästan enda tätting som vi såg på Svalbard var snösparven. Den letade föda på nästan alla platser där det fanns något grönt. Den lever på en blandning av fröer och insekter och under den korta sommaren, när ungarna måste födas upp, är den igång nästan all dygnets timmar.
