When we came down from a hike in the mountains, where we, among other things, had been looking for Rock ptarmigans, and came close to the beach, one in the group a cried out in a low voice: "Ptarmigan!" Although most of us surely would have passed by without seeing them, had we not been alerted, a pair of Rock ptarmigans sat there, among the stones, almost down by the beach. This was the hen - well camouflaged for its rocky surroundings.
