For half an hour I carefully moved closer and closer to the resting osprey - and it just remained there, at the top of the tree. In the end I was almost below the tree where it was sitting. The subspecies 'carolinensis' or 'American osprey' nests in North America but migrates as far south as Peru and Brazil during the winter. This subspecies is slightly larger than the one we have in Europe is also somewhat darker. Is not the stature impressive?
